Senior Scratch Classic
Congratulations to Sam Turley for winning the GCBA Senior Scratch Classic November 1st at Baden Bowl in New Baden. The tournament was divided into two divisions - those between the ages of 50-59 and those 60 years of age and older. In the 50-59 age division, the top four qualifiers with their four game totals were: 1) Charlie Kunkel 889; 2) Sam Turley 858; 3) Ray Campbell 848; and 4) Ron Hellmann 841. In the Match Game Roll Offs, the number one qualifier, Charlie Kunkel, defeated the number four qualifier, Ron Hellmann, 267-235. The number two qualifier, Sam Turley, defeated the number three qualifier, Ray Campbell, 224-168. Sam Turley then defeated Charlie Kunkel 213- 207 to win the division.
In the 60 years of age and older division, the top four qualifiers with their four game totals were: 1) Les Beer 875; 2) Keith Pickens 850; 3) Dan Nicklin 839; and 4) Bob Fischer 813. In the Match Game Roll Offs, the number four qualifier, Bob Fischer, defeated the number one qualifier, Les Beer, 203-190. THe number three qualifier, Dan Nicklin, defeated the number two qualifier, Keith Pickens, 214-190. Bob Fischer then defeated Dan Nicklin 258-218 to win the division.
In the championship match, Sam Turley defeated Bob Fischer 235-187 to become the overall Greater Carlyle Bowling Association Senior Scratch Champion.
