DOUG BUEHRER WINS SCRATCH CLASSIC

Congratulations to Doug Buehrer for winning the GCBA Scratch Classic held on December 2nd at Ten Pin Bowl in Carlyle. Fifty (50) bowlers packed the lanes bowling one game on each pair of lanes in the house. The top five qualifiers with their five game totals were: (1) Doug Buehrer 1198, (2) Steve Ludwig 1196, (3) John Helige 1153, (4) Jason Timmermann 1118, and Kent Korte 1099. The top five qualifiers then competed in a “TV STYLE” stepladder finals. In the first match, Jason Timmermann defeated Kent Korte 246-205. In the second match, John Helige defeated Jason Timmermann 200-194. In the third match, John Helige defeated Steve Ludwig 228-164. And in the final match, Doug Buehrer defeated John Helige 198-182 to become the Greater Carlyle USBC Bowling Association Scratch Classic Champion. Other bowlers that cashed in the event, but did not make the stepladder finals included: (6) Ryan Wirz 1098, (7) John Kelley 1093, and (8) Ron Michael 1085. Next year’s GCBA Scratch Classic is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, December 7, 2008 at Salem Bowl in Salem.
